48V Lithium Ion Battery Charger at 1500 Watts for electric vehicles (EV) applications with CAN Communications

1200~1500W-Li-Ion-Battery-ChargerAug 27, 2022.  Green Watt Power, a division of Powerland Technology, Inc. announces the EVC-1500 Series of fully-potted, ruggedized chargers for 48V batteries for Electric Vehicle (EV) applications. The EVC-1500 is specifically designed to charge Lithium Ion battery systems in motorcycles, scooters, carts, fork lifts and other e-mobility applications.

The charger is extremely flexible – having universal input voltages and an output voltage range of 28~59V and output current up to 26A.  The standard overall dimension is only 11.3×6.0x3.5” (286x154x88mm) with an option for a handle for easy portability. The units are designed for high-power density and thermal efficiency and include a fan and only weighs 4kg.

CAN bus communication is a standard feature for unit status and control, with an auxiliary 12Vo for CAN BUS or other needs.  The charger has an input range of 90 to 264VAC, able to handle wide range standard of worldwide wall power input voltages and frequencies. The input frequency is 47 to 63Hz.

Efficiencies up to 92% depending on the input voltage, is an industry best with the charger’s high-power density. The Power Factor Correction is 0.99 at 110Vin. The Turn-on Delay at full load is 5s max.  Each unit is protected by Short Circuit Protection, Over Voltage Protection, Over Temperature Protection, plus others.

With a case temperature maximum of <60oC@25oC with derating above 45oC, the unit is rated for IP65 for the enclosure. The EVC-1500 is designed to meet UL1564 and CE and EN55032 Class B. If needed, Green Watt Power can modify the unit as needed to meet each application’s unique requirements.
